Cylinder Position Sensing Designs from Lehigh

Lehigh Fluid Power, Lambertville, NJ. offers a wide range of cylinder position sensing designs for all of its cylinder products, including the unique capability to utilize tie rod mount limit switches on hydraulic cylinders.

TIE ROD MOUNT LIMIT SWITCHES: REED AND HALL EFFECT
Tie rod mount reed and hall effect limit switches are compact and designed specifically as economical position sensing devices. Designed for both pneumatic and medium pressure hydraulic cylinders, these switches sense the magnetic field from the piston. Lehigh hall effect and reed switches allow the cylinder user to sense rod position anywhere along the stroke and can be used to indicate end of piston travel. Tie rod mounting facilitates fast and accurate position setting.

The tie rod mount limit switch style may be used on Lehigh's pneumatic cylinder and medium pressure hydraulic cylinder in both their standard construction design and the stainless steel design.

END OF STROKE PROXIMITY SENSING
This non-contact device is mounted in the head or cap end of the cylinder and senses the proximity of a piston spear when it reaches end of stroke. It is sensitive to the gap between the switch and the spear and reacts to whether the spear is present or absent.

The end of stroke proximity sensing style may be used on all of Lehigh cylinder designs.

LINEAR TRANSDUCERS
The linear transducer types of position sensing feature accurate position detection at any point along the stroke of the cylinder. The sensing device is designed as a probe that enters a hollow piston rod. When the cylinder strokes, the changing position of the stationary probe to the moving magnetic field causes a change in output proportional to the distance traveled by the cylinder.

The linear transducer position sensor may be used on all of Lehigh cylinder designs.

Position sensing devices add to the capabilities of fluid power products from Lehigh.
